Yay, today, Kath Quiambao graces us with her presence through this interview that I am so excited to be sharing with you guys. Kath is, of course, a book blogger and a contributing writer at  Froth Magazine, where she writes book reviews. Her blog is full of fun bookish stuff and you'll pretty much enjoy her book photography because it's so lovely to see an overflowing amount of boooooks!

Here goes the interview. Enjoy!

When did you start book blogging?

- I'm quite new in book blogging community. I started my personal blog (where I also post stuff about books) around 2008 and I've decided to create my book blog in September 2014.

How did you start your blog? Did it occur to you that you are already a book blogger or your love for books just can't be contained that you incorporated it almost everyday in your post?

- When I started to dive into reading, I also started to post more about books on my personal blog and I don't want to annoy some my followers/friends who are not into books or reading so I've decided to create a separate blog for my book stuff. I normally just write my reviews on my reading journal (which I still do until now) because I'm not that confident about how I do my reviews. But then I realized that I can communicate with other book-lovers online by sharing my reviews on my blog.

How often do you post on your blog?

- It really depends. Lately I've been lazy to post on my blog but I'm still checking the posts of favorite book bloggers.

Do you always go on book signing events? How do you feel whenever you meet that person behind our treasured books?

- It would be totally awesome to meet all or some of my favorite authors but sadly, I've never been into book signings. I'm still waiting for them to visit Germany, especially Hannover.

Your best buddy in the book blogging community

- My best buddy is Joyce (@bookshoardergal) but she is only active in bookstagram. She have

Top 3 fandoms? Are you a serious fangirl?

- I am a serious fangirl but most of them are not book-related. I'm a fan of Paramore and I am currently fangirling Jennifer Niven's All The Bright Places. I am also planning to collect Harry Potter books and merchandises.

Top 3 fictional boyfriends

- Augustus Waters of The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I'm totally okay with Ansel Elgort as Gus.

- Noah Elliot Simon Shaw of Mara Dyer Trilogy by Michelle Hodkin. I think Alex Pettyfer fits the role of Noah. I love him in Beastly and I am Number Four.

Theodore Finch of All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I want (yes! I want) Nicholas Hoult to be Finch. I've read that Jennifer casted Nicholas too. I'm excited for the movie adaptation.

Any message? (To the newbies and basically just every bookworm out there)

- Hmm.. Stay real. Do what makes you happy and respect the opinions of other readers/bloggers. Read what you love and don't be ashamed about

BLOG SPOTLIGHT: THE LAST READER

Monday, May 25, 2015

Our blogger for today is Jenivieve, call her Jay, Vee, or Jayvee, whichever is okay. She's in the spotlight this week as she answers questions that circles around books and book blogging community.

A blogger aspiring to be an author and columnist someday. The Misfit Queen runs the blog called Writer for Misfits and dedicates her blog for all the misfits and book lovers just like her. Let's find out more about her in the interview below and make sure to follow her on her accounts. Let's go!

When did you start book blogging?

· My blog actually started early in 2013 as a personal blog. I did reviews of books here and there but I didn’t take it seriously till April of 2014! I’m having my first blogversary too! YAY!

How did you start your blog? Did it occur to you that you are already a book blogger or your love for books just can't be contained that you incorporated it almost everyday in your post?

· Again, I started my blog as more of a personal project where I could share my feelings about everyday life and all that but then I became inclined with book blogging after interacting with a few of them, learning things and then I became a full-fledged book blogger, who still shares her feelings about the world from time to time. *winks*

How often do you post on your blog?

· It usually depends when I feel like it. If I have an idea I would like to write down, I blog. If I need to put up a review, I blog. It usually depends on my situation. Most likely, in context, I saw 2-3 times a week on a regular basis. If it’s special, I say everyday! J

Do you always go on book signing events? How do you feel whenever youu meet that person behind our treasured books?

· I don’t. But I have been to a few and they are real fun! I get this ecstatic feeling as if they aren’t real at all and I’m like dreaming or something. However, it’s fun to also think that I’m like friends with them, which is so great!

Your best buddy in the book blogging community

· You are not making this any easier for me. I have to say it is Kai of Amaterasu Reads because we share so many of the same interests, especially on anime and of course with books. But mostly anime.

Top 3 Filipino book bloggers

These are currently:
So there’s Hazel of Stay Bookish
hmmmm, and this is hard but I have to say both Kai of Amaterasu Reads and Aimee of Deadly Darlings.
And they are all my friends. I basically love all Filipino Bloggers.

Top 3 International book bloggers

· Can I not make it a top 3 coz I love so many of them really.
There’s Jamie of The Perpetual Page Turner,
Ashley of Nose Graze,
Georgie of What She Reads,
Kristy and Melissa of Book Nerd Reviews and

Top 3 fandoms (Are you a serious fangirl?)

· Serious fangirl? Is there something more exaggerated than the word serious? Coz I am that. LOL. I’d say my top 3 fandoms are David Levithan Fandom, the Nerdfighteria fandom and of course the 5SOSFam J (this is a band btw)

Top 3 fictional boyfriends

· Let’s see... Hmmm, well, there’s Augustus Waters. He’s definitely the first to break my heart. Then there’s Theodore Finch, he ripped my broken heart into a million pieces and it’ll never be the same again. And of course, there is of course, Paul Markov, who would leave me for another dimension, thus crushing my heart into a dimension where no humans are allowed into.

To all the aspiring bloggers out there, I know it is tempting to want everything from ARCs to getting so many views and checking your stats, or getting a review out, but just know that this is more about having fun while blogging and not making it seem like it’s just a responsibility. Just let yourself go, blog with enough freedom and don’t be afraid to be creative either. You deserve your time in the spotlight, but it would definitely take time, coz you are not the only one in it. Know how to be unique without bringing anyone down.

· And to the readers, keep your heart in check, coz books will break you and hold you at the same time... Keep sane my brothers and sisters. And KEEP ON READING! Bless y’all J

Hi!!! I am Jenivieve, or rather known as Jayvee. But you can call me Jen or Vee. I know, I'm making it difficult for you. I am the person behind Writer For Misfits. I am from the Philippines and started this blog a year ago, with the purpose of sharing stuff that Misfits will understand. I wanted to include stuff that would make me happy, and one of those are books, so I decided to be a book blogger last November, and that, is the start of my career. This can also be considered a movie/music/short story blog. But not as much as I blog about books! READ MORE...

BLOG SPOTLIGHT: WRITER FOR MISFITS

Thursday, May 21, 2015

A blog designer, a photographer, a daydreamer, and most of all a book blogger. Our blogger for this week is the bookish Hazel of StayBookish Blog. Just a few weeks back, she announced on her blog that she would be joining Camp NaNoWriMo this April and I was one of the people who got excited for her and you guys should know that she won and made 50K-word novel in less than a month! Bravo Hazel! I'll be sure to watch out for that one:)

You can visit her post about it in here while enjoying this interview with Hazel.

When did you start book blogging?

- I started book blogging June 2013! My blog’s almost two years old!

How did you start your blog? Did it occur to you that you are already a book blogger or your love for books just can't be contained that you incorporated it almost everyday in your post?

- I started my blog with every intent to officially go in to book blogging. I used to have a personal blog before but then I wanted to post more about books (because I read so many amazing ones) I started to think 'why not create a book blog?' and so I did. And that has made all the difference, to quote Frost.

How often do you post on your blog?

- I really don't have a schedule for posting and I'm not exactly very organized or consistent but I try to keep up 3-5 posts a week on average.

Do you always go on book signing events? How do you feel whenever youu meet that person behind our treasured books?

- I usually do since the events are held conveniently near for me. I love meeting authors and getting to chat with them. It's a huge honor to get to meet the person behind the books and stories that touched my heart.

Top 3 favorite Filipino book bloggers

Top 3 favorite International book bloggers

Top 3 fandoms(Are you a serious fangirl?)

- Harry Potter (always!!!! <3)
- Percy Jackson (because Percabeth!!!)
- The Hunger Games

Hells yeah, I’m a fangirl. I’m not very showy about it but the fangirl is definitely within me.

Top 3 fictional boyfriends

- The struggle to answer this question is real!! Okay, I'll probably go with Etienne St. Clair from Anna, Matt Finch from Open Road Summer and Frank Porter from Since You've Been Gone. I’ve always seen Etienne played by Aaron Johnson (the Angus, Thongs.. movie version) but I don’t know who I’d like as Matt and Frank! Too many choices!

I'm so cheesy but I want to tell everyone else to always stay bookish. And read on! <3

I’m Hazel, bookish, weird and an introvert most of the time. I’m 19 and I’d rather stay in bed with my books all day. I live in the Philippines but I also live in my mind.
I love reading novels, sipping hot chocolate on cold mornings, taking photographs of lovely things, collecting vintage cameras, daydreaming, braiding my hair, blogging about my not so interesting life (it makes it more interesting that way), laughing really loud, seeing places I’ve never seen before and looking at the clouds.

One of Hazel's hobby, is photography and it is very much apparent in her instagram posts how great she is in taking photos, especially when books are her subjects. Let us take a peek on Hazel's bookshelves and some of her book photography down below.

BLOG SPOTLIGHT: STAY BOOKISH

You can call her Yani. It's her nickname and she prefers to be called that way. She's in the spotlight this week as she answers questions that circles around books and book blogging community.

Yani's book blog is called paperboulevard, where she post her reviews and other features such as author of the week and other memes that surely some of you are also taking part in. You can find out more about her by visiting her blog or by joining me in this interview with Yani.

When did you start book blogging?

I am not new to the blogging world. I started blogging street-style-fashion photos on Tumblr but then I realized that I always rant about the books I have read and I have seen people reviewing books on Goodreads. It's when I realized that I wanted to review a book. I started May 2014 with paperboulevard.tumblr.com HAHA!

How did you start your blog? Did it occur to you that you are already a book blogger or your love for books just can't be contained that you incorporated it almost everyday in your post?

I started it with Tumblr. I posted reviews there (which are never good enough but I didn't mind editing it for me to come back in the future and laugh at myself how a loser I am on reviewing books) and features like author of the week and cover savoury.

My love for books just can't be contained really... That's one of the reason I started book blogging. But woah, book blogging is never that easy. You imagine awesome ideas for your blog but when you start to type a word or a sentence, nothing comes. AND YOU'RE IN A 'FAST READING MODE' because you want to read all of the books just released or still coming and reviews, lots lots lots of reviews to post!

How often do you post on your blog?

I post in a day and schedule other posts when it's holiday, Sundays (with no upcoming exams), and days with pleasure time. I am really stuck with my studies. I can only read on my free hours and never make any reviews. Like when 2015 started, I have not posted a review not until the last week of March. The pending reviews I have are still from last year's books I read. This is one of my problems. I really envy those bloggers who can keep their reading and blogging at the same with school.

Do you always go on book signing events? How do you feel whenever you meet that person behind our treasured books?

This is a big NO for me. I am way far from book signing events which are usually in Cebu (Visayas) and Manila (Luzon). I am in Mindanao and I think book signing hosts never had the idea of having a book signing in here because of Mindanao issues... Davao and CDO is different and far from the usual places with the war issues the news cover! (Sorry for not being open minded.) It's just when I went to Manila before, when people ask where I am from, their eyes would go big and their aura on me changes. *Sigh.*

Your best buddy in the book blogging community.

Ooooh. I can't think of any? I guess it's Carmel and Kyla.

Top 3 favorite Filipino book bloggers.

Three? That would be painful for the others! Well, here are the top three I usually visit:

Top 3 favorite International book bloggers.

http://lilysbookblog.com/ [I love her reviews so much. She's a reviewer goddess to me.]

http://www.thesepaperhearts.com/ [I mostly visit their site because of the tutorials. LOL. But they are book bloggers, too!]
http://paperfury.com/ [*Speechless.*]

Top 3 fandoms? Are you a serious fangirl?

I AM NOT A SERIOUS FANGIRL. But I am #TeamGabriel from Lailah.

Top 3 fictional boyfriends? (Which actor would you see them in real life?)
Oh. My. God. This is a VERY, VERY, VERY difficult question.
  • Quentin Jacobsen of Paper Towns: I know right! I was not imagining Q as Nat Wolff but as Max Irons!
  • Max Fletcher of Since Forever Ago: AAAAHHH HE IS THE HOTTEST AND CUTEST THAT I COULD EVER IMAGINE, Jake Abel!
  • Max Ryder of Hush: Husssshhh babe. He's British and he fits for Luke Treadaway.

Any message? (To the newbies and basically just every bookworm out there)

"Who are we to judge? We're just readers making lives to the nonliving words."

Hi. Yani is just a nick name. I am a book blogger from Cagayan de Oro, Philippines and existing for 19 years. I'm a college sophomore that studies Chemistry. I love to listen Amy Winehouse. Her voice and songs are unexplainable with words.

I am in love with books no matter how old they are as long as they make me have a good sniff.

This blog is made for my reviews of the books I have read but not all. I was aiming that people in my city could at least appreciate books and tell the stories they have read. Tell the stories to the kids on the streets. In possible ways, I share a story to a friend or more so they would get anticipated to read. READ MORE...
